At Biggest Little fur Con 2026, I did a little experiment with my photos. That experiment is that I would shoot photos, offload, process, then upload to my website, and then edit for Furtrack upload in batches. I thought this would speed up the turnaround time to make my photos available onto my website. (On a side note, I have no control over Furtrack’s approval time.)
My thoughts on this is, that I will not be doing this again for future conventions and events.
This idea would be more plausible if I had a staff who was dedicated to processing and uploading photos, but in reality this is a one-wolf operation.
The big issue is with time. I timed each batch processing and uploading time. That ranged from about 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the amount of photos. At BLFC 2026, I had processed 17 batches of photos, and I’ve estimated about 10 hours of my convention time was spent on processing the photos.
This is 10 hours that I’m not spending on the floor getting photos.
I understand that several folks appreciated my ability to have a quick turn-around time. Going forward, however, my priority at the conventions is to get the photos (and make time to hang out with friends, too). Processing and editing will have to be done after the convention.
