Getting Back into the Groove

There are two activities I enjoy doing: photography and writing.

To be honest, I feel burnt out. I lack motivation to write, take photos and post them here. My website is empty, except for the photo galleries of my various furry conventions and events since 2013. It’s literally a blank book. I believe spending too much time on social media and YouTube just wears down my brain. Time to slow down.

For a nearly 12-year-old website, there isn’t much to read here, because I reboot my website repeatedly. I look at my site and think to myself, “Why do I keep doing this?” I have no idea.

My photography and writing styles are comparable to photojournalism/journalism. I, however, have a couple of issues with that. First, I’m not a journalist nor a media site. Second, this site bears my name, therefore, the stories I tell should be in my voice and not in a third-person voice in AP-style.

What’s my plan going forward? My posts will be my stories with my photos. I also want to move away from the “cataloging” photography that I have posted in the past. One thing that has inspired me lately is photo essays, so I will give that a try. I do need to get back into writing and photography, because that’s how I can stay proficient.

On one other note, the use of AI (artificial intelligence) for my writing and photography is a hard no-go. That defeats the whole purpose for me to stay proficient with my writing and photography, in my opinion. It also makes me feel very unauthentic.

Happy writing and photography!
