I am an American citizen. I have some words about that shit-show White House meeting held on Friday with President Donald Trump, Vice-President J.D. Vance, and Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The way Trump and Vance presented themselves in the most belittling and disrespectful ways towards Zelenskyy made me angry. The only person at the end that inspired me, demonstrated strength and leadership, and deserves my respect is President Zelenskyy.
I am an American. I stand for our Constitution, our principles, and for what is right to ensure that all people enjoy the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And, as an American, I hold no allegiance nor loyalty to any person. Respect is only earned.
Three years ago, Russia dictator Vladimir Putin attacked Ukraine. Putin is the aggressor. Trump showing that he sides with Putin is disgusting, but nothing new.
I recall Trump’s same deterring attitude with Zelenskyy in 2019 in Helsinki regarding that “perfect phone call” to ask for dirt on a political opponent. That call led to Trump’s first impeachment.
To the people of Ukraine, I want you to know I stand with you. I’m sorry that our leadership in the U.S. failed you. I stand for a free democracy. I stand against authoritarian, dictatorships, and bullies. We can learn a ton from President Zelenskyy.
