Carousel Images for Image Carousel

Shutterwolf/Bluesky

One day you’re scrolling on Bluesky and you come across a set of photos. Whether it’s one photo or four photos, it all would fit onto a grid in your timeline.

The next day, you’re scrolling your timeline. It appears that most people are now posting a single image. But wait, there’s a slice of another image off to the right. You ask yourself, “What’s going on?”

Bluesky (bsky.app) announced Wednesday the rollout of their new feature in version 1.121, which features increased image resolutions and the image carousel.

“Plus, posts with multiple photos now appear in a carousel so you can show off your photography in all its glory,” Bluesky (bsky.app) posted on Bluesky Wednesday.

The old grid format offered a grid thumbnail view of my images. This new carousel format, however, is hiding most of my images off the screen. This is not showing off my photos in “all its glory.”

Bluesky got the message from user feedback. On Thursday, Bluesky posted, “We hear and appreciate your feedback on the photo carousel. We’re going to put it back in the oven for now. We’ll consider bringing it back for posts with more than four photos (or videos) when we add support for that.”

Bluesky, please revert to the grid format.
