I have to say, Furlandia 2026 opening ceremony was rather energetic and entertaining.
For starters, the convention’s old western theme started off with the theme song to Ennio Morricone’s “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” The star in this performance has to be the American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter going through the motions of the instruments in a wordless song.
The opening ceremony introduces the Furlandia “sheriff” chair Cheetaro, vice-chair Gene, and emcee Taebyn. Guest of honors are “Beastars” voice actors Jonah Scott and Griffin Puatu, and author Kyell Gold. Jonah Scott also presented a fursuit head of Legoshi character (looks fantastic!)
The opening ceremony played a video from a previous Furlandia convention held at its former location at the Portland Airport Sheraton.
Of course, no opening ceremony is complete without going through the “law” of the convention from the “sheriff” and the “deputy.”
It’s looking to be a fun convention!
